WORTH WOmen in Resistance in the 20th Century

- carried out within the Citizens, Equality, Rights and Values (CERV) program funded by the European Union, aims to raise public awareness and increase knowledge and awareness of the historical narrative of women's resistance during their struggles for freedom throughout 20th-century Europe.

The project involves five partner organizations from different European countries, namely Italy, Portugal, Poland, Slovenia, and Romania. It is the result of bringing together the experience of the partners involved, in particular from previous results achieved through actions and projects related to historical memory. These results have made the partners even more aware of the importance of continuing educational action on history, in a particularly active and inclusive way, to prevent historical testimonies from being gradually forgotten. The WORTH project focuses on women's resistance in the 20th century and the role it played in strengthening democracy.

The main objective of the project is to highlight the role of women in the struggle and resistance against oppression and totalitarian regimes, promoting a shift towards a more balanced understanding of history that respects gender equality. Throughout the 20th century, women played a very important social, civic, and political role in all European countries and in various contexts. This project is important because it supports the full and equal recognition of the rights and freedoms of all citizens.

The five partner organizations involved have chosen to focus on and organize activities aimed primarily at young people and students, as it is essential that they learn and not forget the lessons of the past. For this reason, non-formal education and gamification methods, such as Human Library and Urban Trekking, have been adopted. The aim is to stimulate reflection through innovative, participatory, and engaging methods that integrate the formal approach. Locally organized events serve to create a link between participants, local historical events, and European history. These events, together with international conferences and seminars, bring together the experiences of participants from each country in a common space for sharing and reflection.

The WORTH project runs from December 1, 2022, to May 31, 2024.

More information is available on the project website (https://worth-cerv.weebly.com/) and on its Facebook page: (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100092379222985)
