Infrastructure

The Research Centre has the following infrastructure:

• Zwick Roell equipment for static/dynamic friction testing of panels, for the following types of testing: determining the static bending strength and flexural modulus, determining the perpendicular tensile strength to faces (internal cohesion), determining the surface roughness parameter.

Compact Density Profile Analyser – DPX300 IMAL

  • Technical Characteristics: size of sample holder 1÷ 100 mm; resolution 0.01 ÷ 0.05 mm; collimated x-ray source is of 25 kV - 0.25 mA; scanning speed is of 0.01 ÷ 0.5 mm/s; measuring precision is ±0.1%.

Laser Machining for cutting – Coherent Lightcell 150W – for processing of the following types of materials: wood, veneers, lignocellulosic or other type of metal, paper, plastic, rubber, textiles.

  • Technical Characteristics: Laser power of 150W; precision of 25 μm; working space of 1220 mm on X and Y axes, 100mm on Z axis.

• Sound Testing equipment to determine the sound absorption coefficient for different types of materials

  • Technical Characteristics: size of sample holder 100mm; the sound absorption area is between 70Hz and 1800Hz.

• Equipment for the testing of moisture in wooden chips – UM200 IMAL

  • Technical Characteristics: full scale of 1000g; operating temperature range is between 5°C and 40°C.

• Heat Flow Meter for Testing Insulation Materials – HFM 437 Lambda to determine the thermal coefficient

  • Technical Characteristics: temperature testing range is between -20°C and 70°C; size of sample holder (L x W x H) is of 610 x 610 x 200mm; precision between ± 1 and 3%; the thermal resistance range is between 0.1 and 8.0 m2K/W; the thermal conductivity range is between 0.002 and 1.0 W/(mK).

• Laboratory of Testing the Processing Accuracy of Wood Panels:

  • Measuring table CaDesQ – for the determination of linear sizes, forms and holes.
    - Technical Characteristics: accuracy of 0.001mm; the maximum size of the fabric specimen is of 2500 x 1000 x 50mm.
  • Measuring table LaminateDe sQ – the equipment measures the dimensions of the tongue, mortise and grooves.
    - Technical Characteristics: accuracy 0.001mm; the maximum size of the fabric specimen is of 800 x 500 x 18mm.
  • Measuring table OptoDesQ – the equipment measures the panel flatness and linear sizes.
    - Technical Characteristics: accuracy 0.001mm; the maximum size of the fabric specimen is of 800 x 500 x 40mm.
