The project comprised mechanisms with gears, rack and pinion type for steering boxes for vehicles, in order to come with constructive solutions and to research them so as to obtain gears with higher ratio; the research came up with three novel types of gears with higher ratio once wheel stimulated: curved side racks, fractured side racks and curved racks. For cars with two steering axles a series of articulated and cam mechanisms have been proposed, to suit the needs of all wheel steering system and to allow the rear wheels to turn not only in the same direction as the front wheels but also in the opposite direction. Research came up with four proposals for patents, two PhD theses (Macaveiu, A., Ceauşescu, B.) and a series of published articles in prestigious journals.
• RO-SMEP/Panels – a two-way communication RO-EU. Contract EEN/SPA/09/SME/250386-RO-SMEP (Manager: Prof. Dr. Eng. Dan Săvescu)
The contract, funded by the European Union is part of a bigger contract entitled Enterprise Europe Network (EEN), Contract SAG EEN - 225559/2008 – BISNet Transylvania, where Transilvania University of Brasov was an associate between 2008-2012, together with other innovation structures and technological transfer across Europe and not only, with other researchers from Asia, the United States of America, Japan, Canada being involved. The project aimed at promoting the EU politics and legislation within member states, at the novel SMA levels, start-up organizations and developed spin-offs at a regional level.
• Chain drive system dynamic tribology. Contract no 4029/2008, AAd3/2012, Aad4/2015. Beneficiary Schaeffler Group SRL, Herzogenaurach, Germania, 2012-2018 (Manager: Prof. Dr. Eng. Radu Velicu)
The main objective of the research is the experimental determination of friction loss from chain transmission system for developing and validating theoretical models, arising from chain articulation contacts, between the chain and chain wheels and tension guides. Friction loss is evaluated according to the chain dimensions, teeth number of chain wheels, speed, tension, lubrication conditions etc. The friction coefficients are determined from chain couplings under various conditions of speed, load, temperature, etc.
• Modelling and simulation of an electric system for tension reduction. Beneficiary AUTOLIV ROMANIA 2017, (Manager: Prof. Dr. Eng. Cătălin Alexandru)
The main aim of the research is given by modelling and simulation of an electric system for tension reduction.
