Research fields

Within the Research Center, artistic activity (musical performance and/or creation) is recognized as equivalent to scientific research. It takes place on two levels: fundamental research, which addresses theoretical aspects such as harmony, musical forms, counterpoint, orchestration, music history, aesthetics, stylistics, ethnomusicology, music criticism, and cultural management; and applied research, focused on aspects of performance theory and musical creation. Interdisciplinary themes receive special attention.
The Center approaches topics in performance, musicology, music pedagogy, folklore, contemporary creation, and artistic interdisciplinarity, with emphasis on performance excellence and educational innovation.

Infrastructure

The Music Science – Excellence in Musical Performance Research Center benefits from a diverse infrastructure: classical musical instruments (concert and study pianos, harpsichord, string, wind, and percussion instruments), instruments for music education and music therapy (Tibetan bowls, theremin, Orff instrumentarium), as well as state-of-the-art equipment for music production, currently being installed in the dedicated hall of the Research and Development Institute.

Products and services with innovative potential

The Center focuses on innovation through scientific and popular publications, musical productions with educational and therapeutic applications, audio-video recordings of artistic events, research in music education, and the valorization of folkloric heritage.

Projects

The Music Science – Excellence in Musical Performance Research Center develops scientific and artistic projects with national and international impact, focusing on performance, musicology, music education, and music therapy. These include conferences and symposia, recitals and festivals, innovative musical productions, research dedicated to folkloric heritage, as well as interdisciplinary and international collaborations.
