World Robot Olympiad regional stage

The Educational Robotics and Science Association (WRO) organizes the 10th edition of the “World Robot Olympiad” competition. The competition is an international phenomenon, being among the most important events organized worldwide for the development of science, technology and education. Teams of 2-3 students, aged between 8 and 19 in the year of the competition, under a coordinating teacher’s guidance, will challenge each other, based on the general regulations and specific rules, in a technical creativity competition.

There will be several competitive tests and categories:

  1. WeDo (addressed to the youngest programmers who are talented in building robots)
  2. Robo Mission (addressed to pupils with technical skills in building and programming robots):
  3. a) S 1 Elementary – Primary;
    b) S 2 Junior – Secondary;
    c) S 3 Senior – High school;
  4. Future Innovators (addressed to pupils and students, in which the participants will prove their creative ability in designing and developing robotic applications):
  5. a) Elementary – Primary;
    b) Junior – Secondary;
    c) Senior – High school;
  6. Future Engineers (addressed to pupils and students, in which the participants will prove their ability to solve problems encountered in everyday life, by developing robotic applications).
  7. Robo Sports (addressed to pupils and students, in which the participants will build autonomous robots with the help of which they will compete in a chosen sport. This year, tennis!)

A team is only allowed to participate in one competitive category each year.

The 1st place winners in each category will represent Romania in the international finals, which will take place in the Republic of Panama, between 7 and 9 November 2023.

The teams on the podium will qualify for WRO 2023 – FRIENDSHIP INVITATIONAL IN ODENSE, DENMARK, which will take place from 21 to 24 September 2023.

On Saturday, 6 May, the Research and Development Institute of Transilvania University of Brașov will host the regional stage of this competition, in partnership with the “Support the Centre Region” Association of Brașov. 

The final stage will take place in Bucharest, on 10 June 2023.
